The EBMUD PSL Ordinance applies to all properties concerning either public, private and commercial. There are certain situations that trigger the ordinance and those situations and actions include
• Making changes to your water meter’s size
• Building or remodeling that costs that exceed more than $100,000
• You bought or sold the piece of property
There are a few exceptions that are worth noting with the EBMUD Private Sewer Lateral Program and ordinance:
• If your private sewer lateral is less than 10 years
• If you have a valid, or an unexpired PSL Compliance Certificate.
This applies for Alameda, and Albany Sanitary District
To stay in compliance with the PSL ordinance it is necessary to complete the following steps.
• Make sure to have your sewer lateral inspected by an Oakland EBMUD sewer lateral contractor
• Take the time to make the necessary repairs to your sewer lateral. If the inspectors find faults to your PSL then it needs to be replaced.
• Schedule regular inspections with EBMUD to stay up to date with all regulations.
• Fix all problems concerned with your PSL during the EBMUD inspection.
• Obtain a copy of your Compliance Certificate
