Article will appear on our main site with art work, graphics and will link to our other Queen + Adam Lambert Articles…. Thanks for being so patient my Glamberts… ROCK AND ROLL !!! — AND ENJOY !!

Queen came back in a major way in 2014. They brought in Adam Lambert and the tour kicked off somewhat unceremoniously in the press. I found a chance to go see it on a whim and I went with a group of friends. Nobody in my group was like really excited about this tour. We sat in a Joe’s Crab Shack eating seafood and guzzling back a few brews and it was starting to hit me, “Man, we are actually going to see the epic rock group  – Queen”. I knew about the talent of Adam Lambert from American Idol and I was starting to get pumped up about the experience.

We got into the parking lot at the Palace of Auburn Hills which is where they were playing in Michigan and that’s when I saw the fleet of big white trucks. I remember reading about Queen back in their heyday and they always travelled with an extensive light show. There were people standing out by those trucks taking pictures with their cell phones. The words, “Queen +Adam Lambert” was printed on the side of them in big black letters. Now, they people in my car might have not shown any hint of excitement but I could tell already by the gawkers that this was going to be a big deal. We ended up not sitting near each other which might have been a good thing. I got closer to the band than they did and for me this was turning into somewhat of a religious experience.

Paul Glantz, of Emagine entertainment, would sometimes show Queen concert movies in his theaters. I remember getting bummed out during one of those screenings while watching singer Freddie Mercury command the stage and the massive audience. I recall thinking that some people were irreplaceable and magical and once they’re gone they are really gone. Freddie had that kind of power in himself and in his fans. I remembered thinking I would never experience that kind of energy in my lifetime. Maybe, I had missed my chance and that was a long walk back to my car.

Now skip ahead months down the road and I am here live at the, “Queen + Adam Lambert”  show. The tour – oddly enough, was called, “Once in a Lifetime” and this perked up my spirits a bit. I could tell that the audience had this, “Paul McCartney Effect” where the young and the old came together and this music was spanning generations. I mean, some of the elderly in the audience were pretty old and I mean that in a good way. Rock music has become this accepted art form for the masses and you don’t see that kind of an audience very often. The young in the audience were very young, as in kids, and the old were pretty old.

The energy was shooting across the halls of the Palace and I can see people buying shirts, getting excited and I am wondering where in the hell the press was on this? I literally didn’t even know this was even happening until my friends told me about it. This was no flash in the pan. This was a big deal. Queen is one of those big epic rock bands and is right up there with The Who, Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith. This was big for another reason. Queen had tried this before with another singer a few years back, Paul Rodgers, and they didn’t go very far. Rodgers has a great voice and carried the band really well and delivered for the fans.  Then I didn’t hear anything more about the band or any more shows and I really wrote them off after that. I pretty much gave up the idea of ever seeing the group live.

“Damn man, where the hell was the press on this?” I kept thinking in my head.  “Why weren’t more people notified” I mumbled to myself and I started to wonder if the show had sold out?

I sat back and my mind raced back and forth over the whole thing. I could feel the tension that something big was about to go off. I really didn’t want to miss anything so I made sure that I was in my seat and then the lights started to go down and people started to cheer around me in anticipation. There was a big see through nylon net that draped over the set and it had the original logo of the band. You know the story about this one right? Each animal in the logo represented a member of the band. This came out in the 1970’s when the album, “A Night at the Opera” was released. But I haven’t ever see this used in a modern day promotion of any sort in decades. The idea was still valid of course but tonight it seemed to take on new meaning. I could see we were going back to basics on this tour and there were lots of details about the bands history everywhere I looked. The classic guitar riff, “God Save The Queen” came on as the audience cheered louder and louder. I could see this was going to be a mesmerizing experience.

Adam Lambert’s voice shot out over the speakers as he sang, “Here I stand… Look around… around… around…”. This was the classic song, “Now I’m Here” from Queen’s old catalog of stadium numbers. I first heard it off the album, “Live Killers”. I was at the edge of my seat and thought to myself, “Holy shit…. They are bringing the sound back to life”. When the curtain dropped the strobe lights went off and Adam belted, “Cause you made me live …AGAIN !!!” and the whole house went bananas. My heart leaped up in joy and I was uplifted. There were Adam Lambert fans in the audience who were waiting for him and they were screaming with jubilation. This kid had a range and he cradled every note but then he did something extra….. he would put his own spin on the notes. This gave the song character and new life and really transformed it into this out of the ordinary experience.  We were in his world now and in a new place. This was a blend of the new and the old and I was blown away by what I was seeing.

“Damn, man…. Where was the press on this? How could they miss this entire thing? How could they screw up this badly?” That question zoomed around in my subconscious as I watched Adam take command of the audience and the band. This was a blend of new rock music…. Of classic rock music…. And a celebration for all people and if that is not newsworthy then I don’t know what is.

The stage was like a gigantic Q for the band, Queen. The extension of the letter Q jutted off to the right, (audience view) into this ramp where Adam would strut his way into the front rows and greet the people. They were getting a full blast of energy off of this amazing performer. I have to admit I had tears in my eyes when I saw this because I really never thought I would ever see this happen. It was a rebirth of the classic sounds. Brian May was on guitar and sounding fantastic and drummer Roger Taylor was bashing away on the kit.

Fans know this but Adam addressed the audience early on and mentioned that when the band and the fans get together they make a special kind of magic. This is oh so true. Consider for a minute that this is kind of like one big mastermind group, ( to anyone out there who has studied marketing ). You have all of these collected minds, bodies, souls….. coming together for a special cause and together transforming the room into one big epic rock event. That energy, that vibe is the collective element. That feeling wouldn’t be possible if the interested parties stayed independent. It is only by coming together and uniting that such a powerful force is made possible. Adam Lambert addresses this in the show, “We believe that when a group of people come together like this that it creates a special kind of magic….”. That feeling, that power, is unmistakable. You can feel it in the air.

You hear stories about the Beatles or Led Zeppelin and how they collectively became bigger than anything imagined because of coming together. In a four piece band that collective power is sometimes known as a “fifth element” – it is an additional energetic entity that wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for the collective effort of the band members. Led Zep believed this so much that when they lost their drummer, John Bonham through a tragic death, they never attempted to recreate the band and continue. They honored the original lineup and called it quits. In the Queen + Adam Lambert space it is the audience that contributes to this big, universal, energetic pulsation. You become part of the show.

What we were seeing on stage was not only a recreation of the classic rock sound of Queen but a re-introduction to style on stage, pomp, glamour, and outrageous sex appeal. Adam Lambert looked fantastic in his killer leather jacket, boots and slicked back hair. He came to dazzle and blow people’s minds. This comes from after years of watching 20 something’s on stage in Goodwill clothes screaming about the unfairness of life and, “The Man” and that whole miserable rock scene left me tired and uninspired. This had no reflection on any of those lackluster Grunge years and punk rock ethics. This  was full powered, high octane, enthusiastic – rock and roll music.

Now I ask you…. Where the hell was the media?

I gotta tell ya, I was embarrassed. And I say that because Michigan is my own home state, I was born here, I am a Queen fan of way back in the 70’s and I applaud talent when I see it. I feel in many ways that this band was neglected and ignored on the PR front. Now that didn’t deter the fans and that sure as heck didn’t deter the band. This was a party for them and for the fans. This was a celebration.

MEET THE GLAMBERTS:  Delivering The News Of The World

Don’t feel too bad about the PR front because the fans have Adam Lamberts back. I have to admit I was fascinated by the entire show. It burned in my mind and I looked up on the web to check on anything I could find about the tour. Sure enough I found some reviews but they were nothing like what I had been anticipating. Some of the reviews were just flat lining, they had no pulse, no life to them at all. Others were just plain terrible like the ones I read in Las Vegas. It was obvious that who ever wrote it wasn’t much of a fan. I mean he had nothing good to say about the show at all. If there were positive comments on there they were disguised really well because I couldn’t see any.

I read some other ones too out of Chicago that were really basic and bland. I started to wonder if any of these journalists had even come to the show. A lot of what I was reading wasn’t coming off like first hand observations but snippets of facts pulled from Wikipedia and possibly newsroom feeds. I knew what I saw was spectacular and out of all the rock shows I attended in my life this was possibly one of the best productions I’d ever seen.

Now before I introduce you to Adam’s fabulous PR team, The Glamberts, I want to draw your attention to some of the city tabloid type media. There was a journalist from a well respected New York news source that nominated Eddie Van Halen, (of Van Halen) as a the top “Douchiest” guitarist ever. This insensitive comment comes during the 30th anniversary for the epic – ‘1984’ album. This recording stands as a definitive signature on the classic rock bands career. I was at that tour in Maryland at the DC Capital Center and it was powerful. I was in the first row. Now, I tell you this because I am going through these reviews and I can see that who ever is paying these guys don’t really give a hoot about quality control. They also don’t care a whole lot to give the people an honest perspective about reality.

They did a miserable job on reporting. I lost a lot of respect for journalists in Michigan, Vegas, Chicago and in New York after seeing what a shoddy job they did. I started to wonder what else they lie about on a continuous basis. Then this whole thing gets kind of interesting because once Queen ended their tour in America the US media front went silent. They were off tearing down some other great idea or influential personality of some importance. Their job of “coverage”, (if that’s allowed) was all done… at least for now. The Queen tour with Adam Lambert was fobbed off as, “just another one of those things.” And that was it. No more. No less.

But that’s not the end of the story because something very interesting happened and nobody caught it. I started doing my own reviews on Hot Metro Finds and all hell broke loose. The media, didn’t like that. We run an online magazine that tells the truth to the people. In fact, our slogan is, “Something For The People”. With all the book stores closing down like Borders and Barnes and Nobles we are at the mercy of the wretched local press which does nothing but berate and intimidate its readers with half truths, limp wristed journalism, and lifeless drivel. And those are on the good days.

Some joker sent me a story on here about an Adam Lambert burger being sold at – Burger King I think. There was talk about a, “Glam Whopper” and I was forwarded a picture of – yep, Adam Lambert, wearing his crown from the Queen show on a yellow burger wrapper. This picture looked real so I wrote about it and I am convinced now that some local newsroom in Michigan used us for a gag. But the thing is I told you guys about it as if it was real news because that’s what sensible journalism is all about.

Now, looking back on the whole thing I realize it was a hoax. But do you know who delivered that bit of news around the world? The Glamberts. That glamorous army of do gooder’s which is known as Adam Lamberts personal PR Army – dedicated to fashion, rock music, and all things Adam. That is how we got formally introduced. Now, we could never find the culprit behind this ridiculous, but clever, Glam Whopper idea but the emails started coming in from around the world. I was getting inquiries if I had heard anything more about this amazing Adam Lambert food product. People wanted this, “Glam Whopper”. Burger King, take notice, you could be standing on a fortune here. The fans welcome the idea.

The US Tour was now over but it was far from over for the Glambert’s who managed to do something extraordinary. They took over where the mainstream lamestream media failed to do. They stitched together live footage of the, “Queen + Adam Lambert” shows very several different angles and cell phones and recreated an entire performance for YouTube watchers around the world. They managed to get pictures of Adam up close off their cameras and Tweet them out. Several even made their own products, and my personal favorite, a plush toy of Adam wearing his stylish outfits. They were coming up with concert reviews, news items and were taking over the roll of reporter, VJ, and paparazzi. I was intrigued with them. And unlike the mainstream lamestream media they always told the truth.

I understand that I am not too well liked by the mainstream media because Im not part of their system. But what the mainstream media doesn’t understand is that they are outnumbered. They are hideously and outrageously outnumbered by thousands if not millions of hard core rock fans that operate outside of the mainstreams tiny world. I was informed by the Glamberts that the Australian tour was sold out thanks in part by a dedicated team of fans who marketed to the masses using social media. Another Glambert told me that she took to the streets with flyers to get the word out about the upcoming tour with some friends. She proudly boasted, “We are dedicated to Adam…. And will do whatever it takes to spread the word” – and I feel good about that.

The Glamberts are not BS. They understand marketing and how to get the message out to the right people. Best of all, they know social marketing. They aren’t sitting up in some office dreaming up stories to write about so they can punch out by 5PM and go home. They are living the message and that is something that paid newsroom journalists will never do. You can see it in the end product. The social media that the Glamberts produce is solid, impactful, and carries significant meaning. The media that the mainstream media produces is schlocky, and lacks heart. Now this is something that I didn’t expect but the media that Glamberts create also causes real sensation. Think Beatlemania. You can see the numbers rise in your hit counters on your website… which means… real people, real news, in real time. They take a message and communicate it others and that news travels across the globe.

The Glamberts do something that even most American companies won’t do and that is proper branding. They understand branding, strategy and communication. They have well crafted stories and marketing messages that can be transferred from fan to fan. This is a basic function for building a strong brand. If I was going to hire a marketing person – I would hire a Glambert. They understand social media like no one else and I say this only because I have experienced their magic in person. They are truly a magical group of people.
GLAMBERTS:  Ushering A Powerful New Source of Social Media

As a marketer I see business flop and flounder with social media. You can probably guess that none of them really have any stories to share. Worse, when they do have something to say they just blurt it out blindly on their Twitter and Facebook accounts to no one in particular. That message sits there unattended, and gets no engagements because it is not specifically geared towards anyone. I have seen businesses go out of business because of behavior like this. I hear from them that social media doesn’t work.  This not only gives social media a bad name but I also know that this is just simply not true.

These guys move in a wave – like an ocean – and messages get delivered. They sell out stadiums, they move en masse. They are the living embodiment of social media and they are the revolution. I am informing you and teaching mainstream media to watch out for these guys. The Glamberts are very real, they are no bullshit, they pull no punches and there are many of them.

The most interesting thing about them is that they convey information to one another in real time. They use social media so effectively and have the connect to one another so well. This is a very tight audience and their focus is very direct and on point. It is exciting to see them work and to interact with them. Out of all the stories we have run on Hot Metro Finds the Adam Lambert audience portrays the most interactive profile. They are attentive and very much interested in what we do. That sort of energy is not only enthusiastic but inspiring. It gives validity and new life to the idea of what social media can bring. There are a lot of social media experts out there who talk about what this type of communication can be but that usually just boils down to theory. I see a lot of social media experts out there who are broke and struggle to pay their bills. Being friends with the Glamberts and watching them interact with their fanbase and the public is really incredible. You can’t fake authenticity.

More record stores and book stores continue to close. I drive down Woodward Avenue in Metro Detroit and see shops boarded up. Borders book store, (which was my absolute favorite) is no longer in operation and as of this writing Barnes and Nobles have closed their doors in Royal Oak, Michigan. With the closing of media stores like these comes the loss of thousands of periodicals and niche magazines dedicated to music, culture and the arts. That leaves the public to rely on the mainstream media for the bulk of their information. But when that information becomes misinformation then there is a big problem on the rise. The people either have a choice but to accept it or they have the right to stand up and speak their own truth. If the mainstream lamestream media doesn’t to deliver quality news then the people simply turn their backs to it and communicate to one another.

That is fan to fan, fan to band, and fans to the masses without any mainstream media approval or involvement. That leads to direct ticket sales, outrageous live events, fan based products, (t-shirts, jewelry, dolls, toys, artwork etc.) and all of this is done outside of any type of corporate infrastructure. The interesting thing about the way the Glamberts are working is that they are disrupting the whole idea of what controlled media is supposed to be about. It is a deliberate breakdown of structure, years of limitations, and convention as we know it. This type of communication and audience gathering can be done for any audience or purpose.

And with that being said…. It is the PEOPLE who are the champions.

Oh Ted, you have me in tears, thank you so much for the recognition of Adam’s fans.
Yes we love him and have his back always.
There is no greater love than the love of a fan for their artist. Being able to experience a show in real time even though we are not there is the most valuable thing on this earth. Thank’s to all the wonderful people that take photo’s, make videos etc so that we can all see our Idol around the world as one.
I have put every show on dvd, and more to come from the next leg of the tour thank’s to those who give their time for other’s. I can relive this wonderful once in a lifetime tour forever.
I was lucky to experience it in Sydney, i have waited 4 years to see Adam sing live, and with Queen it was a dream come true, and the best night of my life.
Not to mention Brian and Roger who are the most humble people on this earth, i and I think all of us have fallen in love with them to, for some of us older fans, fallen in love again.
From the bottom of my heart again, thank you xoxox

Most did, but there was not enough attention. Didn’t make any difference, we still sold out friggin arenas ourselves by exactly the ways you wrote about. Thank you for this amazing article.

Wow! Just finished reading this article you wrote. I want to tell you how much I appreciated your thorough research about the Glamberts. Yes, GLAMBERTS are a force to be reckoned with. Adam Lambert introduced Queen to me through his interviews in 2009 and was so glad he did. Saw 3 of the Queen + Adam Lambert shows and was in awe!

Thank you for the lovely mention of Glamberts in your article. They are indeed a great bunch. I’m always thankful when I get updates of news and videos of anything about Adam Lambert from these beautiful group of people. It takes dedication and passion to organise, source for news, travel to venues, tape the shows, upload them to share with other Glamberts from other parts of the world who can’t make it to the shows. Bottomline is Glamberts believe in the talent that is Adam Lambert and rightfully so. He’s an extraordinary performer and Glamberts promote that fact every chance we get!

You GET IT Ted! You really DO! Pardon my language but F**K lamestream/mainstream media! They RARELY get it right! The internet and social media is now the “information highway” for so many people and Glamberts, while not ALL the same age, race, nationality etc. ALL have one thing in common…our love for and belief in the TALENT that is Adam Lambert! Our ability and willingness to act as ONE truly came about out of necessity! It was exactly this lack of ALL credibility from the previously relied upon sources that sparked what I like to think of as a mini cultural revolution. And what’s even more amazing is that it’s totally organic! “You can’t fake authenticity” as you so wisely note. Adam and his fans are the REAL DEAL and neither he nor WE are going away, so mainstream media be it TV, music reviewers. radio, etc. just need to deal with that and with (or without, I don’t care, lol) US! We’re here to STAY! Thanks so much and please keep up the good work Ted! 🙂

I followed the entire QAL tour very closely and fans of Adam Lambert covered every minute of it so well it was like being at every show personally. They are amazing, you are correct. One thing I do want to say tho is I disagree with your comments about mainstream media reviews. There were actually many fantastic reviews from the media. Yeah, for the most part, the US media in particular has ignored what is really a huge phonemenon going on under their noses but when someone did bother to go and see Queen’s new show and review it they were positive about it. In fact out of dozens of shows worldwide there were really only 4 or 5 at the most that you could say were negative reviews and that is a major achievement for ANY artist. Keep in mind also that at least 2 of those reviews were pretty much identical (ie someone didn’t go to the concert at all) and another got song titles and even Roger’s name wrong and had no idea which songs Adam had or hadn’t sung. So in all that there might have been one truly credible review that wasn’t all positive. Not nearly as bad as you imply. Also the NY Post has always hated Queen – they also attacked them when Freddie fronted the band – and were particularly nasty to Freddie. Anyway – I just wanted to clarify that, the concerts have actually been critically acclaimed worldwide, just not covered as well as they deserve by the media. Otherwise great article and thanks for posting it.

Wow, what a great and truthful article! I’ve never followed and artist daily like I do Adam lambert! This all started from the 1st note he sang on idol 6 yrs ago and has never stopped. He is a force to be reckoned with in the music Industry, just wish they would wake up!!! I think that’s another reason us glamberts have his back, he’s been way underestimated and ignored and we are fed up

Wow. Thank you for taking the time to notice the force known as Glamberts. We do care very deeply and are dedicated to promoting and supporting Adam, but there would be no Glamberts without the man himself, who touches our souls when he sings and inspires us to be better human beings. Adam is the real deal. I’m just grateful to be along for the ride.

Thank you so much Ted for recognizing Adam & Queen’s timeless, encompassing talent & the media’s ignorance & ineptness of not only Adam & Queen, but other accomplished artists that deserve so much better. We Glamberts also appreciate your kind acknowledgement of our efforts to bring attention to these men of such excellence. I’ve always liked Queen and think now I have a better appreciation of their musical skills that are down right thrilling! Put them together with the electric stage presence, charisma and vocal perfection of Adam Lambert and you have a magical connectivity and power like I have never before seen! I’ve seen Adam live only 11 times & the Chicago and Md concerts with Queen. They were spectacular! Queen & Adam fans alike were on their feet singing. cheering and often teary eyed at seeing these icons with their new prince! Their joy on that stage connected us as one and we didn’t want it to end. The media has no idea what they’ve missed and it’s their loss. Queen is timeless. Adam will prevail in spite of them and also because of people like you that get it and call them out. We’re dedicated “worker bees” not only because of Adam’s monumental talent. but because of his beautiful, generous, humble spirit. He is worth every second of our time and he’s worked hard and long, so deserving of all the good that continues to come his way. He’s made the world a better, smaller place & and we’re all the richer for it. Thank you again! funbunn40 🙂

An amazing article! You understand. I have wondered where the press was too. Like someone said, the arenas sold out anyway but it would have been nice to see some national news about this fantastic event. Saw 5 shows. People came out with jaws dropped. Been a fan of Adam since 2009 and now a lifelong Queen fan. Hoping to fly to Europe for 2015 shows!! Thanks again for this great inspiring piece of work. Did you know they will be appearing on UK XFactor next Sunday the 30th? Gotta get them on some show here!!

Thank you, Thank you for your incredible article about Queen ,Adam Lambert and his army of fans.. There is no press to speak of these days and it’s a very sad commentary on what is happening to America and journalism.. But moving on.. I saw Queen and Adam Lambert in concert in Maryland.. OMG it was the very best concert I have ever been too.. Three musical giants performing on the stage together is like musical fusion..amazing,spectacular and awesome. ..I watch the fan made videos everyday ,sometimes many times a day. The music has become my daily prayer.. a mantra ,a breath of fresh air.. If you can see them live do so, you will be changed for life..
To add Brian May,to paraphrase, said Adam’s voice is one in a billion.. He’s so right.. I have never heard a better singer in my life…
Again thank you for recognizing an extrodinary love between great talent and the fans .

An amazing article! You understand. I have wondered where the press was too. Like someone said, the arenas sold out anyway but it wouldi have been nice to see some national news about this fantastic event.

I’ve been following Adam since he was on AI and have been doing my best to help promote him, I’m no expert in publicity or media and have other commitments such as full time work and a daughter to attend to.
But After seeing Adam go through the AI machine I fully expected him to be embraced by the mainstream media, appear in the glossy magazines, be on mainstream chat shows worldwide, the whole thing because it’s obvious that he is something really special that only comes along once in a generation. And unlike many of my other favourites (eg Iron Maiden) seemed to want to put out radio friendly popular music aimed at the masses.
Being here in the UK I never expected his being gay to be a problem either, we have many gay celebrities here who do very well.
But it quickly became obvious for whatever reason that the US mainstream media was poised to rip him apart and fling him back into the obscurity that he fought so hard to escape. And the British media simply ignored him and still do even though he’s been singing with Queen since 2012, he’s never featured in the documentaries the show about Queen even though they get other celebrities in to talk about them, not Adam though he has the closed connection at the moment.
So I did my best to learn what to do to help whether that’s defending him in comments sections, complaining about inaccurate and misleading articles, voting in on line polls or just retweeting articles. It may not be as much as some, but I couldn’t just stand by and allow Adam to be shoved back into obscurity and out of reach because mainstream media wanted to use him as a punching bag before dropping him and moving on to the next target of their venom. It’s happened before to people I’ve liked but until now I haven’t had the internet as a tool to fight back with.

@Itso – What ??? No, they haven’t ! The only issue is the tone of the comment, keeping it positive.

Not quite, they don’t want us complaining about articles that are broadly complementary but with minor mistakes or negatives, and they don’t want people to be rude.
But if someone is being deliberately misleading or libellous, I’m not letting that pass.

Great article. Thanks, Ted, for the wonderful article. Glamberts are dedicated to Adam and look for any opportunity to support him. Adam is the most wonderful person in the world, and has so much integrity. I see the Christmas videos for helping in Africa, yet years ago Adam asked his fans to support a water well drilling charity in Africa for his birthday. That is who he is. He has a lot of class, he is not afraid to be himself, and he has lots of fun. Wow!!!!

Thanks so much for the insightful article. Yes, we Glamberts have taken public relations to a new homegrown level because we’ve had to. We were desperate for news, articles, opinions. Anything, that we felt compelled to get the word out . It was literally a homegrown , grassroots campaign to share our deep commitment to a phenomenon of combinations Queen with Adam Lambert !

Ted I love your article ,but I also want to say that many in the press did praise the show.. In fact most of the reviews were excellent, just some critics who seemed semi- comatose of absent..

What a great article, Mr. Cantu! You really get it. I have never followed a singer or been part of a fan base before 2009. I mean, I had groups and singers that I admired, and I bought their music, but I never knew devotion until Adam Lambert. From the first moment I saw him on the American Idol auditions, my life changed. I have not missed anything on him since, thanks to the Glamberts. They are remarkable, and I reap the benefits of their well-oiled machine of talent every single day. There are small pockets of Glamberts all around the world, and they are connected by the social media sites to the larger and more technically skilled Glamberts that keep us informed on all that is Lambert. Occasionally, you will run across someone like yourself that recognizes Adam’s talents, and you are very much appreciated by everyone that works so hard within Lambert’s circle of devoted fans. But Glamberts handle their own media coverage whenever those whose job it is fail miserably time after time. Where is the press, you ask? I agree with Terry that there were many fabulous reviews for Queen + Adam Lambert, but even in them, you could usually see the laziness. Because I devoured every single review, I could always see those that just copied others and slapped their own name on their article. Most aggravating quote found in 90% of the reviews?? “Adam Lambert is no Freddie Mercury but….”. Lambert is not trying to be Mercury. He doesn’t have to because his voice fits into Queen in a whole new and exciting way. Thanks to the Glambert Army, you can buy these concerts on DVDs and enjoy them over and over. You can go to youtube and see an entire variety of individual songs and whole concerts right at your fingetips. Did you see the crowd at Kiev when they performed there in 2012? It was an AIDS benefit with Elton John also performing. The crowd was estimated at 300,000. I have that concert on DVD, along with their performance in Madison Square Garden earlier this year. Wake up World. This is something amazing happening right under your snooty noses, and you are missing the best collaboration between old and new that will ever be created…Queen and Adam Lambert.

Welcome to the Glamily. I’ve never been happier in my life and have made lifelong friends. A long time ago I said that Adam Lambert would change the way we listen to and buy music. Radio stations have snubbed him but somehow TRESPASSING still debuted at #1. The man is perfection and he is inspiring. And YES, the whole thing is magical.

Hi Ted, since you have entered the Glambert world phenomena during the Queen + A time frame, there are many Glambert Power moments that happened prior to this. Really theyare too numerous to mention – but for instance there were times the Glamberts collectively outed scamsters and cut off journalists and dj’s at the knees when they spoke untruths or off color – all in a matter of hours or days – the ‘fanteam’ was on it. The Glamberts have also coalesced into what could be called the GLAMstream media from ‘day one’ quite organically because each Glambert brings to the table something they can do the best ie: taking photos and vids, editing vids, archiving photos and media, tracking performances, putting up fan sites and pages, creating artful interpretations and compilations, and generally expressing their love for Adam and his talents in any way they could offer their own talents. And this extends beyond Adam to Glamberts helping Glamberts, and of course any charity Adam supports. It was, is, and continues to be a beautiful journey to both observe and participate in.

Excellent! Marketing and PR are listed on my résumé, right at the top. I’ve been in marketing and PR for years. I have to say that since becoming a Glambert in 2009, my marketing and PR skills have skyrocketed, mainly in the form of social media. In fact, because of my Glambert on-the-job street team training, my husband and I started a music marketing company earlier this year. We started it mainly for our love of independent music but also because I now know how to successfully market a musician who struggles with promotion in the new and drastically-changed music industry. Artists have to be their own marketing department now. And one of their responsibilities is finding their vocal street team. Adam Lambert definitely found his, and we are here to stay. I am a Proud Glambert. 🙂

Ted thank you so much for your article. The decline of real journalism is my biggest fear for this democracy of ours. As anywhere you can see it in the music industry as well. To few ppl are controlling the mainstream news and radio. That’s a whole other series. I was so happy to see such a lovely article acknowledging the Glambert’s & our devotion to Adam. His music was the spark, his personality was the engine that drives us to want the best for him. The cynic in me is a little skeptical on your true intentions. I hope you aren’t just “shining” us on as you stumbled onto an army of devotees for an artist who will give you lots of hits. The fact that this even crosses my mind shows you the level of distrust I have in today’s journalists and bloggers. Yet thank you as we Glambert’s will make it work for Adam no matter the reason & if you truly are an admirer, welcome , welcome!

FINALLY, a real journalist who GETS it….gets US! I used to be in pop promotions back in the 80’s and if we had us (Glamberts) and social media back then, we could have gotten ANYTHING on the air 🙂 Yes, we are a marketing machine, and a good size portion of this machine are old enough to have seen all of the cool bands, including the original lineup of Queen! Yes, I saw the original twice, once in the 70’s and once in the 80’s, and the 2014 version is every bit as exciting and over the top as the original. Queen and Adam have succeeded in bringing back the big rock show, and THIS life long music fan couldn’t be happier 😀

Yes. We have a worthy artist, who possesses talent, looks and a personality that embraces all other artists out there. Thank God Queen took the leap of faith and Adam’s fans delivered sold out arenas and took the lead in advertising these shows and honest critiques. We have learned that sometimes talent and niceness is not enough and have had to watch Adam be dismissed and ignored by the mainstream media and awards shows. These shows were like out of body experiences for so many of us, it’s like all the pieces of the puzzle came together and the result was breathtaking. I got to see two shows and it was powerful, the music and mixing of all age groups from children to older adults. Surely this sent a message to media and music entities alike, that there is support for the class act, which is Queen and the endless talent that is Adam Lambert.

    Mr. Cantu,
Thanks for the BEST summary I have ever read about GLAMBERTS and of ADAM !!! He inspires all of us every day! He is a true treasure. Not only is he the most talented singer, he’s an honest, sincere, loving, generous human being! I’ve supported him since AMERICAN IDOL…and my support grows stronger every day! I listen to his music EVERY day and talk about him every chance I get. I wear a photo of him on a necklace and it always starts a conversation wherever I go! Some know him, some thinks it’s a pic of ELVIS (lol), some ask, “What is he doing now?”…and I’m so excited to tell them all about what he is doing with QUEEN! My devotion and support for ADAM and his talent will NEVER end….

Thank you for someone recognising us! glamberts are one of the strongest and most loyal fanbases in the world! I agree with you. this made me cry! I am 18 and have been a fan of Adam for over 5 years now! I saw him live in 2009 and I will be seeing him and queen in January! I am so excited and I’m sure it will be a life changing experience. I have gone through some very hard times and nearly given up its a cliché thing to say but Adam has helped and motivated me so much his lyrics his image his personality has just helped me. he is the perfect role model and a true inspiration he is highly under rated and I would love to meet him one day just say ‘thank you’

PS thank you Ted for finally agreeing with us and seeing it through our eyes! You put it perfectly.

Incredible article. You’ve hit the nail right on the head Ted……every point you made is valid.
I too was at the Auburn Hill concert…..and it blew off my socks. The reviews were “ok” but certainly didn’t reflect what i had experienced. I also saw the concert at Madison Sq. Garden……which was also amazing…..those reviews really sucked….most of them anyhow. I want to know how these guys get their jobs…..the review from the Times was downright disgusting…..even Brian May commented on it. Where does the reviewer get his credentials? I checked his bio and i think it said he played flute or something in college…..really? That qualifies him to work for the NY Times? No wonder so many people (Glamberts included) are choosing other networks…..and i’m one of them. After EVERY concert, i spent the morning surfing the web reading all the reviews…..and believe me, they varied widely. I much prefer reading things on social media vs. the mainstream media. Again, GREAT article Ted……well done.

    He’s not a victim.
What I said was that this tour was not promoted heavily in the Metro Detroit market. And it wasn’t. I live in Metro Detroit and there was very little said about it. When Alice Cooper, (yes, Alice Cooper) plays here the radio stations make a big deal out of it and its over done. This tour is big in scale and it wasn’t hardly discussed in our local media. The other point I need to make clear is that the reviews that I found were very generic. The question I had was if any of these journalists even attended the concert at all? I have seen the same sort of treatment here for Echo and the Bunnymen, and the Cult when they played through here recently. I never said Adam Lambert was a victim.

Thanks for a wonderful article Ted. It’s a shame the media doesn’t give Adam much attention. He’s a very talented and wonderful person and I have never followed a singer or celebrity before him. But he’s so positive and generous and I have been a fan of his since American Idol. I saw him for the first time live this summer singing with Queen and the concert was fabulous!

I’ve never been a fan of anyone really except now with Adam because he is a most beautiful creature inside and out so blessed with talents and most of all crowned with humility. He is the total package adorned with a golden heart and an enlightened soul, need I say more why I’m a Glambert? Have not even touched about his singing!!!
I thank you, Ted, for being a fair and honest journalist. God bless!
