HOT METRO FINDS: Seth Godin Secret Prize Inside – Book Review
SETH GODIN – FREE PRIZE INSIDE – This is not a new book – its a good ten years old – but there’s a good chance you never read it. I find that a lot with business books and entrepreneurs. The best books sort of slip past their grip and that is a real shame because this book is pure gold. There are some powerful things in here that you need to see.
Seth Godin is one of those guys that are known as, “Agents of Change”. He transforms the world around him into a landscape of adventure and new ideas. This guy never gets bored with himself. The idea here is that your business should have a secret prize in it. There are many examples in here that you can use for your own business which makes this book pretty much timeless.
There’s the “product” but then there is the FREE prize which is what people really want. Sometimes its not about the product at all and what people really want is the feeling the get from purchasing it.
Here are some examples:
The Free Prize is the experience of service at the Ritz Carlton, when what you paid for was a good
The Free Prize is the change counting machine at Commerce Bank, when what you needed was a checking account.
The Free Prize is the line at Al Yaganeh’s soup stand, when what you came for was the soup.
The Free Prize is the milk carton that housed the first 10,000 copies of Purple Cow.
The Free Prize is the way you feel when you open the little blue box fromTiffany’s.
The Free Prize is in the look on the face of the valet when you drive up in a Hummer.
The Free Prize is the lighting and ceiling of the new Boeing 77e
The Free Prize is the lighted key board on the new Mac Power books
The Free Prize is the way it smells inside a bakery
